Coach Oliver was born in Chicago, IL lived in the midwest growing up.  After graduating from high school, Coach Oliver joined the USAF where he served over 20 years, retiring in 1998. While in the service and continuing until 1998, Coach Oliver was a basketball official at both Boys and Girls High School all over the world for 16 season and Women's NCAA for 8 seasons. As well as a referee, Coach Oliver spent several years coaching various levels of youth basketball.

Coach Oliver is a graduate of Trinity College with a B.A. in Financial Management and is currently employed as a government Chief Financial Officer in Bedford, MA. He was the assistant coach at Sacred Heart School in Lowell for the 2000 season and since 2001-2004 served as the Head JV Coach and the Assistant Varsity Coach at Bishop Guertin High School in Nashua, NH.   Coach Oliver leaves Bishop Guertin HS with an overall career record of 41-14 including winning the 2004 Class L JV Championship.  In September 2004, Coach Oliver was named Head Varsity Coach at Nashua North High School in Nashua, NH.  In 2009 Coach Oliver was selected to the AAU National Executive Board.  His AAU accolades include 2007 Penn State Champions, 2008 16u Sweet 16 Finish,   2009 Blue Chip Big Mac/Quaker City Challenge Champions,  2010 Nike Tournament of Champions (Chicago) 4th place finish and several NEAAU State &  Super Regional Championships. 

Coach Oliver is married and has 3 children.  Ricky's wife, Michele is the NELP club administrator.
